This is the last post in "Week 0", as well as m last unofficial day* at the state legislature. Again, I spent the morning at the Senate Finance Committee, where they passed several bills which I will go over briefly since there are so many (but be sure to click each one to learn more about them, and if you want you can watch the whole session here). SB1290 updated the Arizona tax code with the Internal Revenue Code to reflect changes nationally, SB1291 made technical tax corrections for 2017, SB1081 allows two smaller companies (specifically insurance companies) to merge and join capital, SB1144 mandates that tax cuts need to be reviewed every 10 years to eliminate loopholes, SB1212 allows AZ Commerce Authority to authorize an additional $10 million to give tax credits to those who invest in small businesses, and SB1242 allows private parties to go under contract with cities/counties/towns to collect private information to audit people. Like I said, these are brief overviews that do not fully reflect how these bills arose or the different sides of the issues, so be sure to read more about them! After that, I went to the House Appropriations Committee Meeting, where people gave presentations on budgets, you can watch the whole meeting here. And that was my day- see you next week!
* This is a post that I wrote for the date 2/1/17 , but I never actually published on my blog (sorry!)
